Common questions

My prayer times are a few minutes off

Times are calculated from the coordinates of the city you picked and the calculation method conventional in your region, and small differences between methods are normal. The first thing to check: make sure the selected city really is the one nearest you, under Profile → City. Picking a distant city in the same country can move Maghrib by tens of minutes.

My city is not in the list

Choose the nearest one, and email us the name of yours. We add cities as we go and prioritise the ones people actually ask for.

Reminders are not arriving

First check they are on under Profile → Prayer reminders, then that notifications from Rayan are allowed in your device settings. On Android, battery optimisation can suppress scheduled notifications — exempt the app if so.

I changed the language and the app restarted itself

That is deliberate. Arabic lays out right-to-left and English left-to-right, and the interface direction is set at launch, so the app reloads for the new direction to take effect.

I signed in on another device and my progress is missing

Progress belongs to the Google account, so check you signed in with the same one. Syncing needs a connection and can take a moment after a first sign-in.
